About Commerce and Management Department

A Brief History

The department of Commerce was established in 1969. To mention a few stalwarts of the department of Commerce are Prof. Balasubramanyam (1969), Prof. K.G Ramakrishna (1971), Prof. B.R. Harini (1972), Prof. Raja Gopala Sastry (1973), Prof. M. Gopal Rao, Prof. T.A Subramanya Shetty, Prof. S.Srinivas Shetty & Prof. A. Abraham Somprakash and many more who played a great role in the growth of the department.

The Dept. of Management was established in 2004. Along with this, it has grown to be  the biggest department of the college with a huge number of students entering every year. Presently it has three sections of B.Com and one section of BBA. It has Ten full time teaching faculties who are enthusiastic and motivated.

Achievements:

The Department offers elective subjects for B.com and BBA students such as Taxation, Banking, International business and E-Commerce and for BBA Financial Management, Marketing Management, and Human Resource Management. It has introduced diploma in HRM and Marketing Management and also proposed to have open electives in Human Resource Management, Financial Market & Entrepreneurship Development from 2014 batch onwards.

The department also conducts Company Secretary Course for interested students. This is the second batch of students who are pursuing their CS course. The department also encourages the students to take up their CA course. A few students are already pursuing their CA privately. The department also has teachers who are trained for SAP course & the classes are held in the college premises.

By conducting regularly Management and Entrepreneurial Fests, the students are encouraged to develop their skills for their career and market demands of today. Also the department organizes guest lectures at regular intervals for their career guidance.

The classrooms of the department are equipped with Projectors which are put to utmost use by both teachers and students for their presentation. The department conducts bridge course for such students who join B.Com or BBA courses from non-commerce stream. The department also takes keen interest in helping the slow learners by conducting remedial classes. Along with the placement cell,  the department takes interest in campus recruitments and a good number of students are already placed in renowned companies.

On 22nd Feb 2017, Global opportunities Pvt ltd held a free counselling session for the students who are aspiring to do their higher education in foreign countries.

Thompson Reuters as part of their CSR initiative partnered with GTT NASSCOM foundation provided training for our Final year students for 100hrs at free of cost on financial markets for better career opportunities.

In the month of Feb 2017 our students attended an orientation programme on S.A.P conducted by the Gonos consulting Pvt ltd.

Future  Plan of Action :

  1.  To conduct special lectures by subject experts.
  2. To conduct workshop on every second Saturday for the final year students.
  3.  To go for Industry-College interface by allowing our students to take up hands on training (internship programme).
  4.  To learn something new from other disciplines under Choice Based Credit System.
  5.  To keep our campus clean.
  6.  To set up a commerce lab.
  7.  To adopt a government school and engage two hours on Saturdays only for the 10th std. students to give them some awareness about the various courses that they can opt after their school final
