International Conference on Knowledge Partnerships to Advance theUN Sustainable Development Goals

Two-Day II International Conference on Knowledge Partnerships to Advance the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) upheld the matter of concern subject “Towards Sustainable Lifestyles and Inclusive Societies”. It was jointly organised by St. Philomena’s College (Autonomous), The Sustainability Platform (TSP), Asia and Xavier Board for the Higher Education in India on Feb 8 & 9, 2019. The motto of SDGs is to build a nested model of sustainable development as sustainability is the new way of innovation.

The conference started off with a workshop that involved students in group activity to bring out creative posters that were later exhibited. This was followed by plenary sessions and master classes engaged by the renowned speakers like ArunSubramaniam, senior Journalist, Robert Steele, member of The Sustainable Platform, JahanzebAkhtar, An officer of the 1989 batch of IRS, currently posted as Principal Commissioner of Income Tax inPondicherry, PavithraMohanraj,Founder of Infinitive, an early-stage start-upIpshitaChaturvedi, the founding partner of C&C Advisors – India’ first law firm dedicatedly working on sustainable development,Depalan,a journalist, copywriter, Naturalist and HR Trainer,sharing and enlightening the audience.

The conference concluded with the valedictory ceremony on Feb 9th. The dignitaries present on the dais were Fr. Leslie Moras, Episcopal Vicar, Fr. Barnard Prakash, Rector, Dr. Ruth ShanthaKumari, Principal and otherresource persons. The panel members put forth their opinions regarding the Two-day conference programme.  Khushi, Public Policy Candidate of Mysore voiced on the ‘We too’ movement, the upcoming campaign.

Fr. LeslieMoras gave the closing remarks of the conference. Kishor and Velan students from Thrichy, Tamil Nadu were awarded with token of appreciation for poster making contest. Dr. Ruth ShanthaKumari proposed the vote of thanks.

The conference ended on the note that anything can be achieved and succeeded when believed in youth power.
