Major Project:

Government of Karnataka, under its prestigious institution, Vision Group on Science and Technology(www.vgst.in), has sanctioned Rs. 30 Lakhs for the proposal sent by Dr. S. Jeyaseelanunder Centres of Innovative Science & Engineering Education (CISEE)Programme for 3 years (2013 – 2016) to set upResearch Laboratory at Department of PhysicsSt. Philomena’s College (Autonomous), Mysore. Prof. S. Jeyaseelanis one amongthe 16 in Karnataka to receive this project from VGST. Rs. 10 Lakhs has already been received for the first year and the project is started in our college. 

Dr. S. Jeyaseelan is the Program Coordinator of this Project and the project is with the title “Crystallographic and Molecular Structural Analysis of Certain Drug Molecules manufactured in the Pharmaceutical Industry”. 

Quinoline is the main drug molecules analyzed in this project. Quinolineis one of themain drugs used to eradicate Malaria. The main chemical compound used is 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline. Four Research publications have been made in “ACTA Crystallographica Section E”.
